Dropped 80 feet straight onto hard concrete. Twice. Still works fine. 80 feet is a very long distance to drop something as it must have been moving very quickly when it hit the pavement. Very impressive. If you expose it to high heat and throw sparks of molten steel at it with a torch, it will ignite and continue to burn. But it's not a big flame. Easy to erase. The case melted well, but the button still clamps the ruler from slipping. I like this band best because it's a lot less bulky than all the others on the market and weighs a lot less and because it doesn't have a large extra case to cover the mechanism. This is the second one I've bought. It's 25 feet, but maybe you shouldn't take it entirely after using it for a couple of years because it doesn't appreciate it that much. In fact, this is by far the highest quality tape measure I have ever held in my hands.
