I've used other ASRock B450/X370/470 boards with great success, but that's not the point. I was hoping to get Thunderbolt 3 on AMD. First you need an Intel (LGA 1511) cooler for this board. Yes, you read that right, for an AMD board you need a cooler that you will most likely never use outside of this build and also don't have on hand. Why? It must have something to do with the chipset layout and Intel-related stuff, but it's a nasty surprise nonetheless. You then end up with a horrendously large I/O cap/heatsink. ITX for small form factor, what is it? I need space not that the board takes up any more of it with such a junk. X570 boards now use a PCIe 4.0 chipset fan, which is not exclusive to this board, but the fan noise didn't impress me. I was using a Noctua L9i (Intel. What again) and could still hear the chipset fan above the CPU cooler. That should not be a problem. I've never had much luck with Thunderbolt, this board was a total disappointment resulting in me tearing my Velka 3 SFF build apart for hours only to give up and go back. Bring back the ASRock X470 Fatality Board, much better. (And yes, I updated the BIOS). Can this board be made to work? Of course. But why? With a Frankenstein cooler it would be 10 times more of a headache, for what? *Maybe* Thunderbolt? No thank you.
