I have very thick, wavy, layered, long hair. It hurt at first, but once I figured it out I liked the result. A few small pieces fell out after about an hour, but overall it's holding up. Easier to apply when hair is damp. I worked it to the end of the shortest layer before I started curling it (it was about half the total length of my hair). Make sure you roll down (aka toward your neck). The instructions are contradictory on this.
