Review on Dorman 590 078 Parking Assist Camera by Justin Garcia

The OEM camera on my 2012 Ram 1500 started going crazy after 8 years of use - good mileage. It periodically showed a distorted black and white image and then returned to normal. After unsuccessfully replacing the wiring harness connectors, Chrysler's repair report led me to suspect that the problem might actually be with the camera itself. Dorman is about half the price of the original part, so I went down that route. Installation is very simple - remove the tailgate access panel, remove a connector and two camera screws and you're done. The Dorman part fits perfectly and the build is very similar. . Image quality is no better, but no worse than OEM either. Time will tell if it's reliable. My expectations were met, hence five stars for the time being.
