Review on πŸ”’ Ultimate RFID Blocking PITAKA Magwallet: Minimalist, Modular, and Secure by Andrew Enriquez

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Cool and "scary " at the same time

I like the idea of "modular" purses. I also like carbon fiber, or at least the look of carbon fiber. It suits both. It's durable so my cards won't degrade over time, it's lightweight and I get a lot of feedback on it. It's also easy to use. With the default configuration (6 cards not double-stacked, which I would strongly advise against), it's not that much. I'll be getting 2 other modules soon so I can see how they work. The biggest cons for me were: (1) This wallet uses magnets and therefore can demagnetize the magnetic stripe on the back of cards. That's the scariest part for me. I don't like the disappointed looks and sighs from sellers when a card fails. I also don't like re-ordering and waiting for a new card to come out. I experienced this with one of my cards. I've been using the cards much more carefully to prevent this in the future and so far I haven't had any card degaussing after about 1 month. When I emailed support, they told me they would create a new wallet that would fix this issue. I kind of feel that since I was not informed of the issue and inconvenience I was experiencing, given the price of this wallet, I should offer a free 'new model' wallet, but a number that's probably wishful thinking is. (2) The modules and the wallet itself were completely unavailable for a long time after my purchase. If I wanted to buy a second or more modules for myself, this would not happen. In a letter to support they informed me that the modules are again available for purchase both on their website and on Amazon. I was able to find them now and bought the modules. Overall I really like this wallet. I would really like to be informed that it has the ability to demagnetize credit cards and the lack of availability was disappointing. I use this wallet daily and will continue to do so. Anyway, for me its features outweigh the problems I've encountered so far.
