I bought this hoping that it would replace the Adam washmat which I have been using for a few years now. It has several disadvantages: • Once submerged in a laundry pail, it becomes almost unusable. • It absorbs a lot of water but not a lot of soap or suds. • The surface of the fibers is not rough, but it is not smooth either. You can feel the resistance of the material when it slides over the paint surface. Even the cheapest wash mitts I've used spread soap (and therefore grease) better than this wash sponge. Leave room for dirt to make it appear as if you're just pushing the dirt particles against the surface of the paint rather than trapping them in the pad. The material is not effective at removing dirt without scratching the paint over the long term. It's well made and I could find a use for it, but definitely not use it for painting.
