Slow and Steady.: Window Film

It is EASY to apply it yourself IF you are patient. Make sure all your supplies are close at hand and ready to go. I bought my chain for my patio doors as there is an apartment building behind me. I wanted privacy but also light. It satisfies me both. During the day the curtains are open, the light comes through them, but nobody can see perfectly! However, the curtains are closed at night. Just remember to do the following and you shouldn't have any problems: Clean your windows well. I've done this step twice. Spread the chain out on a large flat surface, hook side down, foil up, I used my bed. Forgot to mention. Cut chain to desired size, just remember to leave 1 EXTRA INCH around the edge. At the end you cut it off. I used painters tape to attach it to the patio door to give an approximate size. Find a small ledge to help you remove the foil, have a spray bottle handy. Slowly separate the film from the sticky. There WILL be some noise. Spray foil and pen, water helps reduce static electricity. Continue peeling off the film and spraying both until all of the film is removed. Spray the window, door, wherever it is going to be attached with the same solution you used to spray the glue. Don't be scotch, make sure you use enough, but you don't need water to run off the surface. Position carefully, be patient! You will have blisters. If you work slowly and carefully, changing position as needed, you'll get a lot of air bubbles and don't push out too much. Be sure to use a sharp utility knife and leave a small piece of window around the edges. This is necessary to remove the water you are squeezing out. Have a microfiber cloth handy to wipe up any spilled water. Don't be afraid to walk over it a few times, mindful of the edges. You don't want to accidentally pick it up. It will "set" in a few hours, a day at most. Mine has been up for almost 2 weeks now and I love it. I'm so glad I did!
