This is a solid little box. Very well made. I had no issues configuring it to run pfsense and it ran flawlessly for a month. However, it does run hot. Not excessively so, but I did add an external fan to keep the processor temperatures down. I was running mid to high 50’s C until the fan. Now temps run mid-40s C. After a month I started to see pfSense restarts and lock ups. Not good. I’ve read someplace that memory and SSD can sometimes be issues. I haven’t yet swapped these components out. So mostly the box runs with occasional ’glitches’.Update:Replaced the RAM. And SSD just to be certain. Had some trouble with the new RAM, and put in a different stick. Finally got the Protectli box to run with no issues. A couple of lessons learned1) Buy this unit bare bones and purchase your own good quality RAM and SSD. The stuff that comes with the loaded box isn't the best in quality.2) Make sure the RAM you install meets the voltage specification as defined in the manual. It makes a difference.I'm boosting my rating back up to four stars.
