is little more than a piece of sheet metal with holes drilled in all the right places. But when you install drives in a backplane-backed server—or even many without a backplane—you may find that the layout requires the SATA connectors to be in just the right place. I needed to install a 2.5" SSD in a Dell PowerEdge R240, and while it doesn't have a hot-swap backplane, the static drive containers it uses combined with the case layout mean the usual small bracket I got first have tried. it didn't help at all. This is where this product really comes in handy as it is exactly the size of a 3.5 inch hard drive, with all the right mounting holes and most importantly the connectors are in the right place. Caddy and hooked up and I was in business. No disk detection issues; it loaded immediately.
