I have decided not to use it as a general purpose tool. It has a great magnet for lifting lids and ribbons out of hot water and does a great job of removing bubbles, but I felt that using both ends might be counterproductive. I was making spicy potato soup and noticed that as I removed the bubbles and then took the next lid, I saw some juice flow into the pot with the lid on, not much but enough to be concerned about what I was getting now put fat on the lid. Lid and tape after I'd just cleaned the top of the jar to make sure there was no grease or broth left on the lid. I confess I didn't wipe the end of the debubbler after deflating the jars, just placed it on a paper towel. So if I wiped it every time, the broth wouldn't get into my water. I bought another magnet. Wand from my local shop and absolutely hate the quality so I'm ordering another of these tools so I have one for the magnet and one for the lids. It also never hurts to have a backup.
