First of all, the keyboard and mouse are incredibly quiet. You can enter a bedroom or office space and not worry about disturbing others with noise. This is a membrane keyboard, so of course it will be a bit soft. It's a really good experience though, and there's decent key travel to add some depth to the keyboard. The mouse and keyboard connect to the computer through a single USB port, which is also very convenient as they don't need separate USB ports. The keyboard has an ISO enter key, which is not often found in the US, which I think is pretty cool. The mouse is almost silent when pressed. The scroll wheel feels solid yet smooth, and it also manages to give you ticking feedback, which I think is a plus as well. The chrome side inserts feel pretty crappy and leave fingerprints. However, the rest of the mouse has a nice flat black finish that's much more attractive than other mice with fully reflective surfaces. The keyboard has a metal top plate and a phone slot. Definitely a plus. The downside is that the backlight is "rainbow" and not RGB, so you won't see any crazy color movement or patterns, but it still looks pretty. All in all, a very affordable starter kit that is definitely worth buying.
