A 120g aquarium looped with Caribbean Hawaiian sand, small balls (ceramic) and dry faux liver. Used the same brand of ammonia to get it to about 4ppm. On the second day I had a strong nitrite spike and ammonia was right next to it. More ammonia was added on day 3 to reach 2 ppm. On day 3, Microbacter7 was also added. The nitrite spike lasted about 5 days on the charts before dropping to 0. Refugium was up and running when the nitrites became readable (API test). I have about 10 days and I have 0 ammonia, 0 nitrites and about 10-20 nitrates.” Grows well with Chaeto. I usually run aquariums with live rock bays and it takes about 4-5 days to set up a stable aquarium. I never had the ups and downs of New Tank Syndrome. It will be interesting to see if I get hair/bacteria/cyan in the next few months.
