Review on πŸ’¨ Lasko 1885 18-inch Cyclone Pedestal Fan with Remote Control - White, Efficient Cooling Solution by Jasmine Leon

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Remote only works in line of sight

This is for model 1885 (several models on this product page). Just note that the remote control only works when pointed at the front of the fan. I'm used to remotes that work through walls, including ones that have their own wireless connection (no Wi-Fi). I figured this would work the same way so I could put a fan on top and control it from below. Looks like I have to go upstairs to control the fan and when I get there I'm still within 6ft of the fan so the remote is basically useless to me. I could have saved about $11 if I had bought the manual version. If I had read a lot more reviews I probably would have realized that this is an IR remote and not wireless. instant contact. Once switched off, it can only be switched on again manually or with the remote control. (Speaking of the 3-speed remote model - I don't know about the single-speed mechanical model). It's getting harder and harder to find devices and devices with old-fashioned cable switches. In addition, the fan wobbles a bit during operation. This may be normal, but I have a desktop fan and two ceiling fans, and they all run noticeably smoother at max speed. It seems like it could be balanced better. (Although this is not a breach of the terms and conditions).

Pros
  • SAVE THE HEAT - Whether you live in a hot climate with no air conditioning, or window air conditioners aren't good at moving air through your home or apartment, this fan will easily bring comfort to the hottest rooms in your home. . The tilt head and optional swing directs the wind in every direction, making this standing fan a lifeline when it's hot and muggy outside.
Cons
  • not reliable
