It's the sound that's the most open to interpretation. In particular, the price tag. The headphones' stage is quite good; it's close to the reference one, in my opinion, because the instruments aren't piled on top of each other and the musicians aren't spread out over a football field. I found the mids to be satisfyingly detailed, and the lows to be suitably deep and resonant without trying to drown out the rest of the spectrum. There is, however, a subset of the spectrum designated as "high frequency" (HF). which, stupidly, these soneks don't have. In some pieces/songs, the instrumental is scarcely audible at all, and in others, it disintegrates into chaos. How Sony managed to screw up their flagship product for the m market is beyond me. However, in this community, importance is subjective. However, I use the headphones primarily while I am not at home, such as on the train, during lunch at work, etc., therefore I am willing to put up with this and still think the headphones and their sound are excellent. If I'm in a quiet apartment and I want to listen to music, I have a player that's worth the cost of these Sonya just for the two plugs I have for it (fittings and dynamos of 10k, each with a very different sound, and a full-sized sony 1am2 for the average). It seems pointless to try to explain the little differences in tone. Since I currently have a modest but high-quality headphone collection, the 1000xm4 are an excellent choice for me. However, they are driven, there is no noise cancellation, no ambient mode, and no microphones. Subway travel, in particular, is made more difficult by the need to employ such a configuration. The gamer, who consumes food like cattle, must be regularly refueled in order to play for 8-10 hours straight. Plus, you can use 1000xm4 whenever and anywhere you like. You will probably appreciate their sound, even very much so, if you are not accustomed to "expensive" sound, costly players, wired ears from ten thousand dollars or more, and a constant with the hunt for music in lossless.
