Good buy - couldn't find a better option in this price range

I don't care that a cheap corner cube can measure angles just as well as a $400+ calibrated unit. I find that unreasonably unfair. However, I expect some repeatability. I have repeatedly placed this instrument on a reasonably flat surface, zeroed it, then measured the angle, then put it back on the flat surface, allowed it to settle, then measured the angle again, and so on. The good news is that the results were reproducible. The claimed accuracy is 0.2 degrees. So if I put it back on a flat surface, a reading of 0.2 would be fine. But I was happy that I mostly saw "0.00", which exceeded my expectations. On a reasonably flat surface, the bubble at the top is also where it should be, basically right in the middle. I wish more corner cube models had magnets on three sides, not just the bottom. I think it's a real failure. So I bought some inexpensive round neodymium magnets and used double sided tape to stick one on each side. Now I have a "poor man's solution" and the option of sticking it with the sides on the surface, not just the bottom. This eliminates the need to do the "90 minus what I read" conversion every time, which wasn't too bad, but sometimes caused me to make mistakes when I was in a hurry. Overall a great price for a device that exceeds expectations and does exactly what I need it to do.
