*If* it works, it works fine. (Not always)

I'm a Paramedic/Search and Rescue operative and I'm pretty quick to look through flashlights as they are easily lost. This is something I will try to preserve and not lose, despite its obvious flaws. ** ADVANTAGES: ** The bright, comfortable circular beam is ideal for medical applications as it does not "bleed" or interfere with peripheral vision. People nearby (e.g. night drivers passing someone on the side of the road to check on students). This is definitely a problem I have with many flashlights; They bleed profusely and can be a distraction and interfere with the non-distraction of other drivers or first responders who are taking on other roles at the crime scene. The round "inspection beam" is also great for most purposes, just like a regular EDC flashlight. That's why I really love this lantern; It's durable, might fray a little in your pocket, thin, uses regular batteries and replaced my much larger $100 Fenix tactical flashlight as a good low profile EDC flashlight. **CONS:** The flashlight didn't always click and sometimes took up to 30 seconds to turn on successfully. I tried adding a thin layer of foil to the battery contacts hoping that would fix the problem (many penlights seem to have this problem for some reason) but the foil didn't solve it; usually it is. This leads me to believe that this is not a battery contact issue, but more of an internal circuitry issue. A long-term solution hasn't been found yet, but the warranty period has already expired, so okay. This is definitely a big problem with an EDC flashlight as you expect whatever flashlight you carry around to be reliable at all times. But luckily I haven't had a crash yet when I needed it in the blink of an eye. (doesn't seem to want to tune in, only when I'm trying to show my friends how cool it is. Ha.) So I think Murphy's Law has an odd sense of irony here. Regardless, he holds a candle (pun intended) for the best flashlights I've had that have since been lost, so I'm willing to leave the matter unaddressed. Until I inevitably lose that too lol.

Pros
  • Hand held flashlights
Cons
  • Long delivery
