Leather case is ideal for the player. It's shaped to allow easy access to all controls with a few minor issues that I don't think are enough to cost it a star. Leather makes the buttons less tactile, and on a couple of occasions when I was fiddling with the volume while walking, I turned them off without realizing it at first. However, it's very rare that I hit the wrong navigation controls. The front of the case has the same shape as the player, making it easy to see which button you are pressing. You also can't access the hold switch when the case is on, but with a magnetic front cover, it's unlikely to accidentally bump into anything. The lack of a screen lid bothered me initially, but as long as you keep the lid closed when not watching video or using the controls, this shouldn't be the case. in any danger. Also, it is easier to pull the player out again when there is no built-in screen cover in the case. Also, I like the carabiner on this thing. I usually leave it on my belt loop throughout the day even when I'm not using it. This allows me to just plug in the headphones (because the jack faces up when you snap them on) when I want to hear something. =
