I was looking to upgrade my previous gooseneck kettle that only boiled water to one with temperature control and this fitted the bill. It's very stylish and well designed overall, with thoughtful touches like the soft-touch plastic handle and lid, mirror-polished stainless steel interior (and underside of the lid), and built-in brew timer. Overall I'm very satisfied and think it's a very good price at $75 compared to other options. At first I was concerned that the "ergonomic 30 degree handle" would be awkward to use, but it's actually comfortable and perfectly positioned when pouring. The entire interior is made of mirrored stainless steel, so water never comes into contact with plastic. There is a very small temperature sensor at the bottom of the carafe. It heats up very quickly at first, but then slows down significantly as it nears the set temperature. Overall, the heat-up time is only slightly longer than my previous "dumb" kettle, and thanks to a very accurate temperature sensor (more on that in a moment) and a 2-hour soak function, I can just switch it on and go. It should be noted that the temperature control is very accurate. I removed the lid and measured 204.1 with a calibrated kitchen thermometer compared to the 205 setting. The lid was removed a few seconds before the final reading, enough time to drop 0.9 degrees. The setting can be adjusted in 1 degree increments. There are no degrees of fracture. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is the controls. They're a bit finicky and not as intuitive as they could be. They also don't match the instructions, further adding to the confusion. Quick start guide and manual state to fill the kettle, put it on the stand and the device will beep and turn on. That didn't work for me. Instead, fill the kettle, place it on the base, press "Start" to turn it on, adjust the temperature setting with +/-, press "Hold" to activate the hold function, press "Start" to heat. I'm getting used to the sequence, but it seems that if you disable the sequence, the soaking function cannot be turned on after the heating has started. If you leave it plugged in (I didn't), luckily the device has memory for temporary storage and the hold function. Skip some features like the hold and brew timer and it looks great.
