It's as good as laptops I think. Loud/Clear I like the tuning indicator that lights up when you're right in the station. My favorite FM station sounds a bit fuzzy but clearer than the car radio. Most stations are very clear. It may be a five star radio, but it's the only one I've had in 35 years, other than my car radios. However, I was hoping for more from my favorite station, although it's still pretty good. Easy to use but a little sensitive to FM. Best when he sits still, moves and anything can happen. I'm told this is typical of hand held FM receivers. Also you don't know which station you are on, you see for example 88 and 92 but there are 5 stations in between, which one are you on? Also typical for a $50 radio. AM/FM switching could have been better. You may not know if you received it on AM or FM. This is a slide with a minimal indication of what mode you are in, Am or FM, there should be a rotary knob with a clicking sound to be sure. The construction is solid and the handle is very well made. It is very attractive, gives confidence that it will last a long time. All in all a good companion for rainy days or sleepless nights. I'm glad I bought it.
