Solved all my cheese-grating problems!

Since I don't like to be in the kitchen any longer than I have to be, I used to buy pre-shredded packaged cheese because of its convenience. It costs more, yes, but my biggest problem with it was that it just doesn't melt the way cheese is supposed to because of whatever they add to it to keep it from clumping.Then I discovered that my food processor was great for grating pepperjack (using one of the disc blades of course) and that opened up a whole new world of possibilities for me in the kitchen. I could grate cheese with my food processor and instantly have mounds of shredded natural cheeses! Well. yes and no, as it turns out.I pretty much ruined my food processor trying to grate really hard cheeses like parmesan, but also softer cheeses like mozzarella. The parmesan cheese experience was particularly exciting, and not in a good way. Enter this little grater contraption and, today, at least one of my life's many problems has been officially solved. I fall in love with this thing all over again every time I use it.As of this writing I've been using my grater for five months now. So far I haven't used it for anything besides cheese, but if you decide to buy this here are a few tips to living happily ever after with it:1) Before each use, use a damp paper towel to wipe down your kitchen counter as well as the rubber ring on the bottom of the grater. This helps create suction so it stay in place during use.2) When grating semi-soft cheeses like mozzarella or muenster, DON'T push the tamper down hard while you're operating the grater. Only apply a very light pressure, and also clear out the barrel often as you're grating. If you don't, soft cheeses are "sticky" and will end up getting mashed against the outside of the barrel instead of going out through the barrel and getting shredded.3) When grating really hard cheeses like parmesan, cut the block into manageable pieces and then use the barrel with the smallest teeth.4) If you don't have time to wash it immediately after use, I highly, highly recommend at least submerging it in water until you can get to it. The barrels are stainless steel so soaking won't damage them, and they're easy to clean (especially with the little brush that comes with the package). To clean the nooks & crannies of the plastic housing I use a soft-bristled bottle brush that I keep around for cleaning water bottles and the like. It actually cleans up very quickly once you get it down, which is one of the things I like best about it.I don't usually get excited about kitchen gadgets but I really, really like this thing. I've read a few negative reviews here about this grater but my experience has been the complete opposite. For something that costs under thirty dollars you get a lot of bang for your buck.
