I didn't really like the hammock so I just bought the ladder. It also means I haven't tried the hammock so I can't speak to its performance one way or another. However, part of the ladder appears to be constructed the same as most of these types of alternative kitten paths. For the simplest installation, you'll need a drill and a bit for the pilot holes and for driving the long screws that hold the ladder to the posts, and a decent tool for locating fasteners. Although quite simple.
