March 28th: I need to update my review. First I used a stick of butter in a pan. Unbeknownst to me, this caused the silicone ring to "float" and the egg white to seep under the ring (see first picture). This morning I didn't want to be defeated by the silicone ring and tried again just without the oil. in pan viola. SUCCESS (see second picture). Save time and money. DO NOT BUY these if using butter or oil in a pan. If you must use oil or butter, use metal egg rings. They will always be heavy enough not to "float". I'm sending them back because I eventually want to use butter or oil and the "floating" silicone ring doesn't suit my needs. March 27: First time I used the ring upside down with less than perfect results. The protein did not stay inside the ring. The second time I used the ring correctly and again flushed the egg whites into the surrounding pan.
