hose clamps will usually suffice to clamp pool hoses, but I've had Having trouble adding a solar pool heater to a new Hayward DE pump a few connections broke at different times - luckily we didn't have to replace TOO much water so I went through the push-in fittings and made sure each had this molded ring behind it the hose would bind. I had another fitting that wouldn't hold. I noticed the clips Hayward supplied weren't slippery so I ordered this set. Problem solved, no more leaks since. Highly recommend them!
