If you like switches, great value

I looked through a few mechanical keyboards before narrowing down what I was looking for and the Drop Entr with Halo True switches is a pretty perfect one Set on the right price. If you're unfamiliar with mechanical switches, it's worth trying out a few to find out exactly what you like, because everyone's preferences are different. If this is your first touch with mechanical keyboards, the Halo Trues will feel very heavy, but the key is that you shouldn't drive them to the floor like a lightweight linear switch or membrane keyboard. Resistance is a sign that you've pressed the switch hard enough to flip it and move on to the next button. Your fingers should "float" over the keys and you should never feel like you're fighting against a resistance or sinking to the ground. I prefer tactile buttons, but brown switches have always felt too soft. Finding a keyboard with transparent switches is quite difficult without customization, and even transparent ones (like the brown ones) have one big annoying problem: I type very fast and sometimes when I press a key on the brown/transparent switches, the time when I have to use the key again, it often doesn't extend fully because the restoring force is too low. I don't have this problem with Trues, with a light enough press the button will be completely normal again when I need to use it again. While their keyboard is actually a lot less noisy than the lighter switch options. That Drop for Entr chose such a perfect switcher for my taste makes it really easy for me. I could spend another $100 to build a custom keyboard with a similar feel, but it's a solid off-the-shelf product that I don't need. night because it doesn't damage the eyes that much. The keyboard profile is a bit lower than most (33mm), which I also prefer over high-end (shorter) keyboards as I'm more comfortable using it without a palm rest when I don't have one. I paired this keyboard with the black onyx GMMK TKL wooden palm rest and I have to say it's a really great combination. The keycaps look great, but there are a few compromises I don't like. I want the function keys to be labeled as they have a non-default function level. I also prefer number row caps with characters printed above or below the number rather than on the side (my brain recognizes them quicker for some reason). Personally, I'm not a fan of OEM profile caps and may replace them with Cherry PBT dual profiles in the future, but that's personal preference. I make very few mistakes on this board and that is a testament to the design. The stabilizers (which make the "long" single switch button reliable) leave a lot to be desired. I want Drop to choose stronger ones because they rattle. The spacebar is about 2x louder than the rest of the keyboard and really distracts from the overall audio profile when typing. While I like trues for most keys, if I could customize this keyboard I would use a lighter switch for the backspace and shift keys because I usually like to press down on those keys when using them and these switches don't for that are designed . If Halo Trues or Gateron Yellows match your writing preferences, you'll get a $50-$100 discount on a custom order just because the product exists. Not everyone likes these switches, so the board remains an entry-level design niche, but for me it's a huge win.
