Lightweight yet durable surface for a variety of media.
I use them for casting acrylic but they are perfect for mosaic, ink or mixed media. I've used them with and without plaster but haven't noticed any difference other than surface detail. You can sand them down for a smoother finish. I haven't tried drilling them, so I don't know how they will perform in this situation. Attaching hangers is not an easy task. They are not thick enough for nails or hooks. I glued the wire and either glued it or plastered it to smooth out sharp objects.
