If you are suspicious of the reverse light, then this product is for you. I bought this because I didn't want to hook up a tail light and power, instead using a 12v outlet (I call it the old cigarette lighter port) for juice. I am VERY HAPPY with this kit. It's long enough for a crossover, so it goes with pretty much anything else. The disadvantage (or advantage) of this method is that the camera is on all the time, unless you turn it off or put the key in the ignition (some cars have no key, no socket). Before you start punching holes, spend time planning how you want to wire from start to finish. I installed this wiring system on a Chevy Equinox. Here's a quick rundown of how I did it: - Drilled a half hole over the top of the existing hole covering the bottom part of the license plate (removed the plastic plug and drilled a larger hole. Passed 3 wires through. - I used a YouTube video for the case removal schematic. I did not remove the seal and nothing immediately after. - Routing the cable from the sunroof to the body of the car was tricky so I drilled 2 holes in the plastic grommet (each side) and routed the cables through the tape wrapped cables - routed the cables along the driver's side and followed the grommet to the bottom of the Rear door on the driver's side, then to the driver's door. Then it is routed under the seat and up to the dashboard. The cables are hidden until they reach the right side of the driver's seat. Not exactly a professional way of doing this, but it looks neat without having to disassemble the car too much. I will try to add photos later.
