Oh how tired of flat, shapeless music. Like many of you, I have been listening to digital music files, especially MP3 files, for many years. While the sound is good on cheap headphones, these digital files fall short on smaller systems in noisy places, in cars, and on phones, tablets, and laptop speakers on high-end systems. So of course I prefer listening to vinyl, I grew up listening to vinyl and I've been recording vinyl to DVD with great success. A lot of CDs are very, very good, especially when they come from pre-80's masters when the music still had depth and feeling. If you want depth and feeling, put on Emmylou Harris or late 60's/70's Merle Haggard, you'll hear the artistry in the recording process. But that's another matter. As I continue to expand my digital library and look for more and more convenient ways to play, I finally bought a Samsung Galaxy Tab E Lite last fall, along with one of those protective cases that I can carry around with a 64GB card. and loaded with music. It is convenient to carry it to the shed, connect it to the system there, or connect it to the aux port of different cars. I loved MediaMonkey playback so much I just had to find a way to make it sound better on a great system. Research led me to this device, the Nobsound NS-10P. I am very happy with the results. It doesn't increase the volume significantly, which is disappointing at first, but overall perhaps a good feature as it doesn't clip when stepping into another preamp, in my case a Carver CT-17. Please understand, this is listed as a preamp and works as a preamp, meaning if you want heavy amplification please use an amplifier. In any case, it works great as a tone shaper, maybe more like a revitalizant. Music that was flat and lifeless is now full, rich and alive. The bass is back, thunderous and undistorted. The highs are bright, crisp and beautifully presented. There is depth and feeling. i am so satisfied I turned the volume all the way down on the NS-10P, then turned it down two clicks. I've never heard a big difference in volume across the entire volume range with my system. The bass and treble controls really make a big difference across all adjustable ranges. I keep the treble all the way and the bass 4 clicks from full. I have installed several JAN 5654W bulbs from the start so I will not comment on the bulbs that come with this unit. The sound got even warmer when the lamps were installed. Conclusion: I am very satisfied with the sound. I also like the feel of this device, it feels well built. Time will tell and I'll update this if the issue comes up soon. I used it for about 8 hours the first day I plugged it in, both listening to the aforementioned MP3s and streaming radio through my Samsung tablet. The sound is great again. I definitely recommend this article once you understand what it does and how to use it. This meets my expectations.
