I ordered it in "used-good" condition for five dollars. According to the description, there was slight wear on the blade. For this price I am very happy with it. Because it's solid steel with no moving parts, I can be sure it won't break. It's really quite intense. If I need more precision than the combined caret or if I need to quickly check 90 or a ruler, this would be my new choice. It would have been nice if the handle had a 45 degree edge, but that's a minor complaint. Overall this tool does the job well and feels like a quality piece of steel that will be in my toolbox for years to come. I'm a hobby carpenter, not a locksmith. I didn't check the dimensions with an electron microscope like some of the other reviewers, but it's more than accurate enough for my needs. If exact length is important to you, the blade is not exactly 6 inches long and the base is not exactly 4 inches long. Not critical for me as I don't use it to measure length but maybe for you.
