My daughter has wanted a set of pearls for several years and these are nice inexpensive but beautiful pearls. I was actually pleasantly surprised and so was she. Disclaimer: i know nothing about pearls. My mom head a long string of fake ones and a short necklace of real ones (much like this) and I never saw much difference in them at all. She did, though. She also would say cultured pears aren't great, freshwater aren't great (and when I grew up, we used to see freshwater ones for sale and they were not even and round). So what are real pearls and what makes them different? I really don't know.Anyways, these are somewhat real, since they're not plastic, and they are beautiful. They are packaged in a nice box except the box has "Pearls" branded across the top, which would be awfully strange for a gift and makes them look a bit cheap. But, my daughter is perfectly okay with it, and has already worn them twice. I did let her know she needs to wipe them down with a dry cloth after wearing even if they don't seem dirty, to keep their lustre.They are beautiful and look "real" to us. very pleased.
