Works great as an IDE master on a channel with a different DVD drive. Update: I ordered a second one and one of the pins on the IDE connector was badly soldered and only makes contact when the board is held in certain positions. The solder was rubbed at the end of the line, it didn't connect to the pad on the board and didn't touch it when the cable wasn't supported. Tapping with a soldering iron to connect the pin to the pad solved the intermittent problems I was having. The device is now working as expected.
