Just started with this but so far so good. I really like the rubber holder. It really makes the sharpening process more convenient. All of my knives have been completely ruined by one of those cheap hand sharpeners that you have to pull the knife through. I've been using them for years and have never been satisfied although they were fast. These sharpeners completely ruined my knives. After getting this stone I spent about 30 minutes with each knife (5 knives) with a 400 grit resharpening the blades to the tightest possible sharpening angle of 15-20 degrees. I'm not an experienced knife sharpener, so the hardest part for me is maintaining a consistent sharpening angle and learning how to apply the right amount of pressure. Even as a beginner I was able to restore the knives and now they cut much better than ever. Most importantly, I (ie my wife) found that the sharpness lasted much longer with the same use. They're still not razor sharp, but I work on them slowly and deliberately because I want to try to maintain a consistent sharpening angle. I think a few times more practice will improve my technique significantly. But I'm looking for a corner lead. Overall I am very happy with the product so far and would recommend it to anyone looking to restore their knives and keep them sharp as long as they have the ability and patience to learn the proper technique.
