Set for felting wool. How did I get the felting kit? At the beginning of this - 2015, I found on the Internet a master class on felting a funny toy, I really wanted to learn. Buying wool was not a problem, but finding needles in Tashkent was not easy. I began to look in the aliexpress online store. I found a set consisting of 8 needles of three sizes of triangular section, a wooden handle (designed for one needle), a mat (a small foam rubber mat), an awl with a plastic handle, a plastic tube for needles, two leather fingertips and as a gift - one stick of glue for a thermal gun. The cost of the set, if I'm not mistaken, is 2.52 dollars or 160 rubles with kopecks. The set arrived a month after ordering. The packaging was a simple plastic bag and for this reason the plastic tube was damaged (cracks are visible in the photo). The picture shows a used set. The needles are very fragile, Chinese, on the first day I broke the first needle. Then I tried to act more carefully and broke two more within two and a half months. At first I regretted that I did not order several sets. With experience and the search for information, I began to understand that these needles are very good only for beginners mastering the technique of felting. Needlewomen with experience require more professional and high-quality needles. The needles have a different shape (I have, as I wrote above, triangular) with notches. With notches, the wool becomes tangled, compacted - rolled A felting mat was affordable; after buying household appliances, I had several of these in the bins. It is a soft foam pad that would not break the needle. The little leather fingertips came in very handy. Until I gained experience, I often got a needle in my finger. In the future, I got along just fine without them. It is convenient to use a wooden handle for a needle when you give shape and volume to your product. But when you are working on small details, it is easier to work without a pen. At first I thought that sewing was useless to me, but when I felt the frog princess (pictured) I needed it too. It was necessary to make holes for the paws. The stick of glue in the kit is superfluous, but it can come in handy on the farm. For the price, the set is cheap, for a beginner needlewoman-felter this fact is very profitable. After all, if in the future she will not be engaged in felting. That will not suffer from serious expenses. Well, if you still want to continue this business, then again, in the future, you can always buy more expensive and professional needles. The disadvantage is that it is not noted which numbers and section of the needles. Through trial and error, I found out that large needles are good for shaping the product, and small ones for working out small details and final grinding (giving the surface of the product an even, almost smooth layer). For small children, the set is dangerous. If you want to teach your children to felt, then the minimum acceptable age that I can recommend is eight years old. They can throw out drawings on felt or make simple products: worms, balls, emoticons or pillows with a pattern (at first, not a big pillow is lying around, the shape is not fundamental, and then a drawing is applied - small twisted flagella of wool are rolled in a certain shape or pattern) And only under adult supervision. The needles are very sharp. And the very tip of the needle breaks off, which makes it even more dangerous. For craftswomen who have small children, I advise you to keep the set in a place inaccessible to their children and preferably under lock and key. Strange as it may seem, my son (six years old) liked to play, almost every time he pricks, and the fingertips do not save him either. He, almost successfully felt small pillows with some kind of abra cadabra, in which he alone saw some kind of drawing. Somehow I tried to get it when I was not at home, the older daughters stopped me in time. He pulled up a chair and from the back calmly reached out to the shelf with the set. Now I keep the set under lock and key! The set is suitable for teenagers in all respects. They are already more responsible and do not throw needles at random. They have no professional interest, so the needles from the set suit them perfectly. Conclusion: I recommend it to beginner felters and teenagers.
