Review on Dee Zee DZ43102 Tailgate Assist by Richard Cartner

I like it very much. It works exactly as I had hoped. The tailgate falls freely about 1/3 of the way down and then that bump kicks in and slows it down to a nice smooth stop. Installation wasn't too bad, but installing the threaded insert was very difficult, I had to use a vise. careful to prevent it from spinning freely by trying to hold the hex key and turn the other key. I followed the instructions and just couldn't get it to work the way they intended. If you want, breathe. both shock mounting plates are each held in place with both, so they tend to rotate back and forth in use. I think over time the paint underneath will loosen and wear off so you'll need to keep an eye on something and retighten the screws if necessary. If the installation went smoothly, you should be able to complete everything in about 5 minutes.
