I connected this to a 2015 MacBook (same results for a 2018 MacBook Pro) using a USB-C to USB-A adapter. As you can see from the photos, the adapter is included (power indicator on the adapter). As shown on the screen, macOS can see the Ethernet interface. When the transceiver is plugged in, the ethernet will show as connected (the light will indicate this on the adapter) and accordingly in the software. But it doesn't work. As you can see in the last photo (not shown) there is no link or traffic light in the transceiver (both below left - and right of CAT5/RJ45 respectively). I think what is happening here is that the adapter does not have the required power to power the 1000Base-TX transceiver. Unfortunately, this is a much more common case than 1000Base-SX, so the adapter just won't work. Same results on another computer with a different CA adapter (different brand). Disappointed as it would be nice to be able to connect directly to my wired networks (PON, 1000Base-TX and 1000Base-SX) when needed.
