Review on Precision Alignment with Self Leveling Visibility: Three Plane Horizontal by Joshua Mejia

Revainrating 5 out of 5

So far it's great!

I lay out and frame the inside of the house extension like a handyman and this is just what I need to keep my layout flat and level. Beam visibility is about as good as I could have expected. With no direct sunlight entering the room, I can clearly see beams from wall to wall to ceiling in this 30 x 30 workspace. While it does its job, and while I know I'm slower than the pros, I have a feeling it'll give me what I need to make him look good. It works great for the money and the quality of the device is in every respect as good as anything else in its class. Also a note: if you run out of battery, just use a USB portable cellphone/tablet battery connected to the micro USB power port and you're done. I have 2 suggestions to the manufacturer that might affect this. Firstly, in my opinion, a digital push button switch (like H and V beam selector) is best for powering. requires a slightly softer touch and is less likely to break the beam setting (but I think that slider blocks the gyroscope equalizer. maybe?). The pros tell me to chalk your lines and turn it off anyway. So make sure you mark well once it's aligned and you want to turn it off and on again. Second, I think it would be very useful to have a base with fine tuning knobs to turn it left or right a bit, and then maybe another screw tuner to move the mount front to back. The magnetic mount allows for pacing, but it only seems to do that just enough to not be alarming. Therefore, it may even be appropriate to add a separate tripod mount with an adjustable base for each of these types of equipment. I have to say that for the money I am very happy with my purchase and feel it will keep my project in order. and true.

Pros
  • Top marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Not as thick as the other options
