Review on ๐Ÿ’ช MSI MPG B550 GAMING EDGE WIFI Gaming Motherboard: Powerful Performance for AMD Ryzen 5000 Series Processors by Ranjit Ghosh

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Works great, but there are a few things to note.

First. my build: CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 3700X Motherboard: MSI MPG Gaming Edge with WiFi Storage: 16GB DDR4 3200MHz RGB Storage 1: Samsung 500GB M.2 NVMStorage 2: Seagate Barracuda 2TB HDD GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 Super 8 GB PSU: 750 W 80+ Gold with RGB Case: MUSETEX ATX Mid-Tower 903-D6 Everything well connected, motherboard instructions easy to understand. Problem 1: RAM slots On the first boot I had a small problem because the RAM wasn't fully seated. only RAM clips on one side (not on both sides of the slot). It clicked into place and everything seemed fine. When I first booted up, the DRAM status light lit up and the RGB RAM didn't light up at all. After I took them out and put them back in, it still didn't work. So I tried putting a RAM in each slot. That's when I realized that while the RAM looked like it was fully inserted and clipped, it wasn't fully. So I put both RAMs back in and made sure they were both completely full. Path and everything loaded fine. I checked online and several people had this issue with this board. Problem 2: Boot status light Whenever I start the system after shutdown, the boot status light comes on and stays on, even though Windows boots normally and everything works. Restarting the computer seems to fix this. This seems to be a fairly common problem with MSI motherboards, so I'm not too worried about it. Note: Drivers for Bluetooth and Wi-Fi are provided on DVD. Luckily, I had a portable USB optical drive, so I was able to download the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth drivers with ease. After installing the drivers and restarting the computer, everything worked fine. Overall I am very happy with this board. Although I encountered a few issues, everything was easy to understand and I was up and running quickly. I've only been using this setup for a few days so I'll update my review if anything changes.
