Review on Get Chopping with Chef'n Garliczoom Garlic Chopper! One Size, Vibrant Green by Ladonna Adams

A must have tool for a cook with RA!

Okay, I know we've all seen Alton Brown's complaints about "single-taskers" at some point, and if you're like me you've probably tried a dozen different products that swear they it will make your life better. Lovers of garlic live easier. The difference here is that it really works! And good! I have Rheumatoid Arthritis so I can't chop garlic cloves anymore, but the pre-shredded kind just doesn't taste quite the same. I buy garlic already peeled (a step you can skip if you know how to peel garlic), toss a few whole and just roll them on the counter. It's big enough to be easy to hold and can chop more than enough garlic for a 6 quart spaghetti pot! It will take a little time to get started, but just wiggle back and forth when it stops spinning and in about a minute it'll be perfectly ground! MUCH faster than by hand if you're not an experienced cook. You can't tell it from the pictures but it has little pieces of plastic that go between the blades on the bottom to keep the garlic from turning. This is your friend when it comes to garlic extraction. I flip it upside down and alternate between tapping on the counter and spinning the wheels a few times. Then I open the lid of the pot or bowl and use a butter knife to scrape off the leftovers. Most of it falls out as soon as you open the small lid. You will never get everything, but very little is left behind this way. I then rinse it under the tap until the residue comes out to clean it and let it dry on the table. It has both a small lid for removing the garlic and a large lid for removing the blades, but I haven't seen the need to completely disassemble it for cleaning yet. I did both and couldn't tell any difference in cleanliness. Simply rinsing the little lid and letting it air dry did the job. I've been using it for a few months now and it hasn't dulled or has rust spots. The only thing I want to see. The change to this is that I would like the blades to be more firmly in place because sometimes they have an issue where they only move so far in one direction but spin freely in another. I'm just guessing, but I think the blades are hitting plastic at the bottom. However, it doesn't really change how well the product works overall; it's just a little annoying.
