Compared to the original charger, they work the same except for the adapter design. This charger requires the adapter cable to run perpendicular to the port, which can make ports near the Type-C port inaccessible. Luckily, the plug works both ways, so the adapter can be rotated away from the ports. This actually makes it a bit easier to use when the outlet is in front of you, ie when you're facing a wall. This makes it an acceptable replacement for the ThinkPad charger.
