I bought these to store brushes and paints as I just started painting and wanted to save space. This would probably be good for making bracelets, holding utensils, and sewing supplies. This might not be great for art unless you just want to store pencils, erasers, and other small art items. I like to organize my stuff so I don't have to search for what I need, but the spaces are too small. There are two long slots on the top shelf so it would be nice for mechanical pencils, brushes or pens, but the slots are pretty shallow. If you put one pen on top of another, it will protrude slightly beyond the partition and fall either into the adjacent one, or into the bottom of the bucket. The other spaces available are large enough for sharpened crayons, regular pencils, or other short supplies, but unfortunately I don't recommend it for storing drawing or drafting supplies. :'( I'm sure I can find another use for it, although I can replace it with a more spacious one. If it had more movable edges of different sizes, it would definitely be better :)
