My daughter is 5 and this was one of the only larger shoes that was wide and had velcro. She has learned to lace up her shoes, but velcro is much easier to handle for a kindergartener at school. Our last pair of Saucony tennis shoes lasted her a full year before her toes parted. I then bought her some LA Gears, but they were too narrow and fell apart after a few months. Then I bought a pair of Danskins and the sole wore out within a month so I went back to Saucony and after a few months the shoes looked great and the extra wide width should allow her to wear them for the rest of the school year. unless she's having too many growth spurts! Now I'm sticking with this brand.
