Replaced the original power supply (12V @ 5A) for LED lights under the cabinet. At maximum brightness, the power consumption was around 4.8 amps. Having been in electronics my entire life, nothing good came from a power supply that would pull 4.8 amps from a 'nominal' 5 amp power supply. The original always got very hot and was electrically noisy (I'm a licensed radio amateur). When the old one failed, I removed the case to look "under the hood". I haven't seen such a badly assembled device in a long time. Cut board lengths and spliced parts are hung on the pins. Explicit circuit board overheating. I haven't taken this unit apart to be honest, but it's rated at 8 amps, so runs a lot cooler and is electrically quieter. So for now I'd like to give a thumbs up and remind people not to push your power supply to the max and expect a long lifespan.
