Came shrink wrapped - had to spray and iron a bit to smooth it out but now has a nice finish. The product description says foam 2 mm + felt pad 4 mm. These are two layers - cotton top and felt. NO FOAM LAYER. It's a lot thinner than I expected. So I installed it ABOVE another ironing board cover which was also disappointing due to its thinness. Two together = good for ironing. The strap clips were difficult to open until I looked at the picture in the product description. The llamas are just adorable. Love it, would recommend with the caveat that you place it over the old cover to give a nice thick pad. On his own, he's pretty thin.
