The old CRT TV I used for my SNES eventually broke so I took it to test on an HDMI monitor. I've been looking for a good adapter for a long time and decided on this one because of the metal housing and the lack of an additional power supply. It comes with an HDMI cable so you simply connect the adapter to your console and then the HDMI from the adapter to your display and you're good to go. It has a small switch to toggle between "S-Video" or Composite output. If your console supports the S-Video option, you will need this. There is also a small red indicator that lights up during use. I hooked it up to a 24 inch monitor and found the picture quality to be pretty good. It's definitely better than using an RCA (red-white-yellow cable) to HDMI adapter. I didn't notice any noticeable lag or anything, and the colors look good too. Obviously we're not dealing with a high-res gaming system here, so it won't look as good as the SNES games on the Switch or the SNES Classic Edition, but they're emulated and you always get here still the original, albeit adapted, 30th summer video. The adapter doesn't have an option to switch from 16:9 to 4:3, but most TVs do if you're worried about a stretched picture. I've had a couple of games where the left side of the screen was cut off slightly, but I think it's the monitor and I'll end up hooking it up to my TV in the living room. In summary, I think this is a solid, relatively inexpensive way to play your retro Nintendo consoles on a modern display. I tested it on both the SNES and the Super Famicom and it worked fine. There are both cheaper and MUCH more expensive options out there, but in my opinion it feels like a quality $30 usage and I'm happy with its function and simple plug and play operation. I'll update this review if I ever get my hands on an N64 or a GameCube to test.
