I washed them before use, filled them with filtered water and put them in the freezer overnight. Place the cubes in my stainless steel gallon jug the next day. I noticed that the water had an awful taste. At first I thought it was freezer burn on ice cubes, although I used lids and they were only there overnight. So I washed the molds and lids again with soap and water to get rid of the "freeze taste". You still smell. So I added a few drops of bleach to the water and rinsed again. It still smelled. I sprayed them with white vinegar and rinsed them off. And washed. And washed. It still stinks. And no lids, just the molds/bowls themselves. Obviously, it wasn't a frosty taste at all. That smell was clearly the material itself. And the fact that it could pass on so many chemicals that leached out to flavor an entire gallon of water is chilling. I would NOT buy these! This is clearly NOT food grade silicone! I returned them immediately. They deserve minus 5 stars. Rough.
