I installed these stainless steel shower baskets on a tiled wall corner in one of my bathrooms. The Kohler website does not provide any information on the type and quality of stainless steel used (it only states that they are durable and their finish resists corrosion and tarnishing) or where the baskets are made. After a few bad experiences with Chinese made stainless steel items that were of poor quality, we had concerns about how well this shower basket would hold up.1. This basket forms a true 90 degree angle in its corner. Kohler recommends attaching the basket to a spacer between the wall studs to adequately support the weight of the items contained in the shower basket. Although the spacer was not installed between the studs on the corner when the bathroom was tiled, I figured a trash can could be safely installed since we chose large 1/2" thick ceramic tile for the trim and the studs are often very are close to the wall corners for storing regular shower accessories.Installation is simple and easy with the right tools: Use a 3/16" tile drill bit with steady, light pressure (do not drill the bottom spacer if you have one) and wear Apply silicone sealant to the holes before installing the basket Misaligned holes are known to have no subsequent adjustment of the basket rim 2. The four screws provided are brushed steel Screw caps are not included leaving the heads exposed , unless you put on the four stainless steel caps, my own (see fig 1) for a P For a product in this price range, the lack of these covers is a noticeable disadvantage. 3. Fresh out of the box, not all of the metal rods that make up the shower basket body that I received were properly aligned. It took some time to align as I was worried the parts might come loose. With the best alignment I could get, the spacing between the metal rods is perfectly acceptable, but not ideal. In Fig. 2 compares the orientation of the rods with that of lined white paper and shows g that the distance between the rods is not always the same at both ends of the rods (which is not caused by lens distortion). I don't know if other K-1897-S.4 baskets have this problem. Review written a year after installation. The basket is holding up very well so far with no signs of corrosion or other issues. With the extra screw caps and properly aligned rods, it should get 5 stars, but what I got wasn't higher than 3 stars. like new. I have raised my rating from 3 to 4 stars.
