I ordered this small 12 inch sentry safe designed mainly to protect against honest people. It's not a very good safe. the same have been used for decades. I didn't have to replace any of them. I only recently tested them to make sure they still work after all these years. Yes, there are heating rods for less money, but to me the Golden Rods are worth every penny. I know they work. They come with a lifetime guarantee, it is very doubtful that you will ever use them. read that before. That being said, all mine, including this new one, are installed on the back of the safe at the lowest point (the bottom of the safe). I can't imagine it working better if you put it on the front. The back doesn't bother. It's easy for them to damage the pipe if you drop something on it. Valuation. Like all my other goldenrods, I attached them, plugged them in and after a while you can feel the warmth. Someone mentioned in an old review that they were sent a Made in China one. I can't blame them for coming back. All 3 are real goldrods, "Made in the USA" is right on the box and comes with a lifetime guarantee.
