The wool is pleasant to the touch and elastic, providing a comfortable fit and comfort. It smells like wool (but pleasant for my nose buds). You can also pull it up to protect your ears and even cover most of the back of your head. This is my neck warmer when I'm cycling in cold weather so I can vouch for their comfort while cycling. One feature I would really like is the little straps to secure them over the ears to keep them taut over the ears. The current design is sleek and stretching helps a bit, but the gaiters still tend to slowly slip off the ears. Overall I still like it and have bought a second piece in a different color.
