I'll start with the good. The fan works well, is very quiet at low speeds and looks good. There are a few things I'm disappointed in, but it's mostly my fault for not researching them more thoroughly. The light is not dimmable. The fan can be turned, but only with the light switch under the glass. Now let's talk about Hunter. The first problem was a quality control issue. The fan arrived quickly, the box was in perfect condition, but there was a huge pothole in one of the fan blades. This was dealt with fairly quickly and I was sent a set of knives. The next problem came 2 months later when I finally found the time to call an electrician for the installation. He dropped the crystal ball and it broke. No problem, he says, we'll get you a new one from Hunter. A few days go by, an electrician calls and says it's not available, even though there's a part number right in the instructions. I think they think nobody will ever break the glass part. I check the Hunter website and it actually points me to a lighting kit that consists of the entire lighting assembly in addition to the crystal ball. Oh, and it's $75 and won't be available for 3 months. Ouch! The next stop was a call to customer service. They assured me I would have to buy the entire assembly and wait 3 months but now the cost is $50. Still unsatisfied, I asked for a supervisor. In the end, they agreed to send a lantern of a different color from the warehouse for free. The color wasn't important as I only wanted glass. I explained that I would like to pay for the glass but they couldn't do it, still not knowing why. After 45 minutes on the phone I think they just wanted to get rid of me. Bottom line a good fan, Hunter is hard to deal with but in the end they did the right thing. I hope it never breaks.
