I had to buy steel toe shoes for work if I ever wanted a better paying job, so I decided to order them and break them in when I really need them. At work, I noticed that women wear these shoes the most, and I thought that was a good sign. I'm not disappointed in my shoes at all. I already have ankle issues, any extra weight is never good so light weight is a definite bonus and heavy weight is never good for me. These shoes are as light as my running shoes. They are a bit wide so if you have very narrow feet I would take that into account. However, I have "medium" feet and being a bit wide has worked in my favor as now the shoes no longer chafe on my socks which always seem to run into the tips and sides of my toes making them a bit or uncomfortable to wear power. If you need arch support, I highly recommend using a footbed that you trust. This shoe doesn't offer much arch support, but don't let that stop you because everything else is worth it. I'm glad I got these shoes because I had to use a jack at work and if I hadn't been wearing these shoes I'm sure they would have tripped over my toes when I was having trouble stopping the jack due to the weight. the object I moved.
