Review on TOPPING Balanced ES9018K2M OPA2134 Amplifier Home Audio by Josh Schaefer

High quality sound!

If you only listen to a USB source and use a balanced preamp, this little DAC will serve you well to produce some fantastic sound! The DAC only supports USB input. It outputs either an optical/coaxial digital signal or a balanced analog signal that can be connected to a preamp that supports a balanced input or to a preamp that only supports an unbalanced input via XLR-RCA adapters. Excellence of this small DAC. In my experience, via either a Topping L30/Sennheiser HD600 or a Schiit Vali2+/Vidar/loudspeaker, the classical or jazz music I play is full of detail with a fairly flat frequency response. Double bass, "screeching" violin, soft piano or singing all sound natural from him. I also like the orange display with large fonts. It's easier to read from a distance than the top-of-the-line D30. Another benefit of this DAC is that it doesn't require any additional power as the USB cable provides both power and signal! There are restrictions on the input and output types. But it's such an economical and high-quality DAC if limitations aren't a problem for you.Recommended!

Pros
  • Audio Format and Sample Rate Display - The D10 Balanced can accurately display the audio format (PCM or DSD) and sample rate of the music being played. The orange LED is soft and does not glare even at night. DSD playback only shows sample rate in ASIO mode
Cons
  • Available in white only
